The date for this event has changed!
This will be the initial stewardship event for what will be the largest climbing area in Ohio at the Mad River Gorge.
The Access Fund Conservation Team will be joining us at the event. This day will include a massive clean up of the gorge along with the construction of trails and the establishment of climbing and camping areas. The event will include food, games, raffles, and a lot of hard work. If the weather cooperates, we expect this to be a very well attended event. This event will begin on Saturday May 20th and Sunday May 21, 2017.
Head over to our volunteer page if you are interested in lending a hand.
Please download this waver, and e-mail it to info@ohioclimberscoalition.org if you wish to attend.
Details about the event are below:
First, we want to make sure that everyone knows that this event will be happening rain or shine, so come prepared for both (bring sunscreen, water bottles, rain coats, etc.).
Also, please make sure to dress appropriately for the work site: long pants (jeans, hiking pants, or work pants suggested), closed toed shoes (preferably boots), safety glasses, work gloves, etc. We will have some safety glasses and work gloves at the event, but the supply is limited so bring your own if possible.
If you have tools, please bring them as well: shovels, rakes, clippers, and hand saws. Mark your personal items with tape and your name as well so it is easier to identify who owns which tools.
The event is 18+, so no children will be allowed during the weekend. We are doing this as a safety precaution as we'll be working with heavy machinery (cranes, Bobcats, etc.) and there are potentially hazardous materials on site (broken glass, metal). This also means no dogs as well.
Registration will be from 8am- 9am at the Gorge where we'll make sure people have waivers signed and assign you to a work group. This will also be an opportunity to purchase a meal ticket for the Mexican buffet dinner, so please make sure to bring $10 cash for each dinner you would like to purchase then. We are going to cutoff meal ticket sales at noon, so the best time to do this would be while you get signed up at the table.
We will be having food trucks at the Mad River Gorge for lunch, so please make sure to have cash for that as well. There will be vegetarian options for food throughout the weekend, but no vegan options.
As we've been announcing leading up to the event, there have been many great donations made for raffles, silent auctions, and giveaways for the weekend. Check out the album (Items for Mad River Gorge Adopt-a-Crag Event) that is posted on the Ohio Climbers Coalition page if you would like to see what items we'll have this weekend (the list is continuously being updated as new items are received). We will have credit card swipers on hand for these items, though cash will also be accepted!

This is a lot of information to share all at once, but hopefully this helps with planning for the weekend. Please share with anyone you know who is interested in joining!
If you haven't signed up yet, you can still do so here (not mandatory, but it helps us pre-assign volunteers to groups and get an idea for how many people will be attending):
