The 2nd Annual Logtown Adopt-a-Crag (Lisbon, Ohio) is scheduled for Saturday, May 18th, 2019, from 9am - 3pm. Last years event was small, about 12 volunteers braved the rainy weather, but we accomplished a great deal in 6 hours! We hope to have a considerable higher number of volunteers this year, and better weather.
Graffiti removal was our priority at the Main Cliffs, using Elephant Snot. A group also began cleaning the vegetation off Broadway Ledge until the rain made it too slippery to continue. We also removed a lot of trash, metal and debris around the Middle Cliffs. Although we didn't get it all cleaned up, the general look of the area was greatly improved.
This year will be more of the same, except instead of removing the graffiti we will paint over it, trying to match the color of the rock. We will be using a technique by Wes Crane, similar to his technique to cover tree graffiti at the Beach City Adopt a Crag: http://www.ohioclimberscoalition.org/blog. We will also be doing some trail work, leveling some of the ground under the climbs and improving the trail to the top of the cliffs.
Afterwards, we will stop in at Numbers Brewery for food and drink.
Ohio Climbers Coalition very much appreciates the nice folks from the Lisbon area that support the event and more importantly who support climbing at Logtown.
If you have never been to Logtown, this event is a great reason to check it out. If you have been to Logtown, please take this opportunity to help improve the area, now and for future climbers. Mountain Project is a great resource for directions to the area. Once there, you will be pressed to find another Crag with an easier approach.
Please direct any questions/comments about the event to the following OCC volunteer staff members:
1. Norm Swann, Northern Ohio Stewardship Director, norm@ohioclimberscoalition.org
2. Tom Thomas, Logtown Crag Steward, tom_thomas@outlook.com
