Mill Creek Metroparks Adopt a Crag

The Ohio Climbers Coalition will be holding the annual Bears Den Adopt a Crag at the boulders behind Bears Den Cabin, Mill Creek Metroparks, on March 25, 2023, from 10am - 2pm. The purpose of an Adopt a Crag is to give back to the landowner for allowing us to climb on their property. Normally, we try to do this volunteer work at or near the climbing area. A lot has been accomplished over the last few years during past Adopt a Crags and smaller workdays. We also do volunteer work to improve the area for climbers, such as improved landing zones. 

Park approved projects for this year will be announced at a later date but usually include litter pick-up, graffiti masking and removal, and improving landing zones and access to the boulders. 

The park blocked out the cabin rental until 2:30pm. We may park at the cabin parking lot until 2pm. There is also a large parking area on the other side of the road from the cabin. 

Waivers will be available with signatures required for both the OCC and Mill Creek Metroparks. Minors with adult supervision are welcome. 

Please join us for Stewardship work at Bears Den, and feel free to stay after the event for some bouldering. In the case of bad weather, we will cancel the event and go to Ascend Youngstown for some dry bouldering, fees apply. Mill Creek Metroparks has a lot to explore, which is another option.
