Mark your calendars: On the Rocks is hosting their first-ever Climb for a Cause fundraiser on Sunday, March 26th from 10am-5pm! We're hosting a handful of incredible local charities: Friendship APL (Friendship Animal Protective League) United Way of Greater Lorain County(United Way of Greater Lorain County) Ohio Climbers Coalition (Ohio Climbers Coalition) and Project Healing Waters (Project Healing Waters Rocky River). These organizations perform vital work in our community and beyond and they'll be set up in our lobby for you to learn more about their missions.
Now, to get into the meat-and-potatoes of how it'll work: each climb in the gym will be worth a certain dollar amount: $2, $4, $8, $14, $22, $32 or $44. If climbers reach the top of a climb without falling, they choose which charity to donate the climb's money to. If a climb is done cleanly (following the climb's rules), climbers will earn the climb's full dollar amount. If a climb's rules are broken (for example: "rainbow climbing" or grabbing different-colored holds on the way up), climbers will earn $2. Climbers can do climbs as many times as they would like!
We want to make this as accessible as possible, so we're discounting ALL day passes and rentals by 50% during the event!
We're also on the hunt for volunteers to track climbs during the event. There will be two "shifts" for volunteering--one from 9:30am-1:30pm, and another from 1:30pm-5:30pm--and volunteers can sign up for one or both of them. If you're interested, you're welcome to sign up at the front desk or contact General Manager D.J. at david@climbontherocks.com.
